Celina + Cameron – Fremantle Prison Wedding

1950s Glam & Fremantle Prison: Celina and Cameron

With a theme of 1950s glam, Celina and Cameron’s wedding on 26 November 2022 was a combination of retro, vintage and old-school class – and I have to say, it was so much fun seeing the bridal couple’s vision come to life!

Deciding to not have a bridal party, Celina and Cameron prepared for the day at each other’s parents’ houses surrounded by family; Cameron got himself ready in a dark navy tuxedo and then made sure their son Cruise was dressed to the nine’s. After family photos outside, it was time to move on for pictures of Celina, who looked like she had just stepped out of a 1950s bridal magazine with her stunning petticoat-style dress and bedazzled heels. A beautiful touch? The words ‘I DO’ be-jewelled onto her shoes, and then ‘Mrs Chave’ embroidered onto the back of her gown.

Even more uniqueness was added to the day, when Celina and Cameron chose to have their ceremony and reception at the World Heritage Listed Fremantle Prison. An intimate ceremony of close family at the prison’s chapel, the venue itself was a statement piece, and provided me with a mass amount of opportunities to take photos from every angle. With so much history surrounding the place, it’s no wonder Celina and Cameron chose it – it’s as beautifully eccentric as they are.

With Cameron waiting nervously at the altar, finally his bride made her appearance, and holding his son in his arms, the two completed their vows to make it official. After group shots, the bride and groom made their way outside the chapel and we got some fantastic shots within the walls of the prison in the courtyard and then, of course, in the prison facility as well – you simply can’t go past that! It has to be done! Photos were also done back inside the chapel, where I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have them pose in front of an enormous window where the sun’s natural light was coming through and settling into the mist.

After more shots around the grounds, it was time to head back inside the prison walls for the reception. Adorned in fairy lights and Celina’s sister making the wedding cake (don’t you just love the wording?), Fremantle Prison really is a unique and different venue.

Following speeches, the 1950s glam continued with burlesque dancers entertaining guests, and the official cutting of the cake.

Thank you to Celina and Cameron for allowing me to be your wedding photographer. Your personalities and devotion to each other absolutely shone the entire day, and it was so much fun photographing you both. May your lives together be filled with glam, happiness and love that only you two can possess for each other.
