Lina + Nic – South Perth Foreshore Boho Wedding

Boho-style intimate nuptials for Lina and Nic at the South Perth foreshore

Blue skies and a city skyline greeted guests as they arrived one-by-one to Lina and Nic’s gorgeous boho wedding held on 15 November 2020 along the South Perth foreshore.

Clouds scattered themselves across the horizon, painting a perfect picture where the happy couple would say their vows. A beautiful picnic area with rug, comfy pillows, and tee pee tent lay alongside, ready for the signing of marriage papers – and it provided everyone with a bit of wow factor when they arrived.

Because of COVID, Lina’s family from Chile was unable to attend, but she and Nic kept things small and intimate with about 25 people coming along and sharing their celebrations.

Indeed the wedding was small, with Nic waiting for his bride barefoot and without a groomsman, and it was really beautiful to see – that you don’t need big numbers of people around you to declare your love for your soul mate. And before we knew it, it was time for Lina in her flowing gown to come walking down the footpath with Nic’s dad.

With all eyes on the bride, it was time to embrace one another once Lina came close enough, and there was no way in the world you could wipe the smiles off their faces. Full of memorable moments, Lina and Nic embodied true love with their nuptials, even when some children interrupted – it was as if it was meant to happen because the day was full of celebrating love as a couple and as a family, despite Lina’s closest being on the other side of the world.

As a wedding photographer, it was a completely different ceremony for me to witness – the certificate signing was extremely casual, and the bride and groom both made speeches in front of everyone before officially walking back down the aisle as husband and wife for the first time.

But there was nothing ordinary about the speeches, as the newlyweds faced their friends and family to make the announcement they were expecting their first child! What perfect timing!

Guests were also treated to a delightful table of gourmet hors d’oeuvres and drinks right at the ceremony location whilst all congratulations were received – for both their marriage as well as their unborn baby!

The day was extraordinary, and instead of getting a car to drive Lina and Nic to their bridal shoot location, the three of us simply walked and grabbed shots along the way to Rambla on Swan in South Perth, where the reception was to be held.

This type of bridal shoot was the perfect way for the couple to see even more of Perth and really be a part of it like the locals are, walking from point-to-point and enjoying the view. It was also a great opportunity for me to keep an eye out on props, angles, and backdrops we could use – and the walk gave us plenty of that!

From an emerald green shed roller door to the quaint Coode Street Jetty, a boardwalk amongst the trees and of course the Scenic Garden, Lina and Nic made a speedy stop in their camper van for a quick outfit change to get ready for the party that was soon to start – but not before some more happy snaps along the city skyline!

Rambla on Swan provided Lina and Nic with the most ideal venue when it came to their reception – a beautiful luncheon without the stresses of a full reception. Everyone simply had a wonderful time celebrating the happy couple as husband and wife in a beautiful restaurant overlooking Perth city with good food, good drinks, and great company.

Lina and Nic, it was an honour to be a part of your special day, and hope that your future together is everything you dream it to be. I wish you nothing but happiness, love and joy in your lives, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be creative with your wedding day photography.
