PERTH CBD

Wolf Lane / King St Precinct

Cosmopolitan brides and grooms everywhere are loving the stylish backdrop Wolf Lane/King St Precinct provides. Perth truly does have some magnificent locations when it comes to wedding photography, but nothing can go past the juxtaposition this particular location gives. With an attractive brick-exposed alleyway, a commanding patchwork mural full of colour (created by New York street artist Maya Hayuk) and a most stunning city view rooftop, this option for wedding photos is second-to-none.

Supreme Court Gardens

The Supreme Court Gardens is the perfect outdoor terrace backdrop for wedding photography, especially if you’re keen to stay in and around the city rather than driving around for what might seem like hours going from place to place. Take a cheeky stroll through luscious lawns and breathe in the beautiful blooms from a garden that was planted more than 100 years ago. And because the Supreme Court and the old Court House are located right on its doorstep, you can even step onto the grounds for a shoot with some of ‘old Perth’.

State Buildings Precinct

Oh how the architecture shouts loudly for this choice for wedding photography! It’s incredibly intricate, and you can really show your appreciation for ingenious structural engineering – or not! But whichever reason you choose, having your photos here in front of three iconic heritage buildings (formally known as the Lands, Titles and Treasury buildings), this is now a vibrant cultural precinct full of cafes, bars and fine dining restaurants. You’ve also got the famous St George’s Anglican Cathedral arches nearby to divide up the range of imagery.

Elizabeth Quay

It’s the Swan River and Perth city meeting face-to-face in the Elizabeth Quay precinct, a landmark waterfront location where your ideas for wedding photography can go absolutely haywire! This picturesque spot provides limitless options for urban framing and imagery – take a stroll along the pedestrian bridge, have some time out at the Spanda (the white arches) for a bit of a cuddle, ride the carousel or perhaps relive your childhood together at the Island Playground (how gorgeous would those photos be?!). The verdict? Elizabeth Quay will leave you breathless when looking back at your wedding album.

Hibernian Place

Another phenomenal location for the cosmopolitan and urban loving bridal couple is Hibernian Place, in Perth’s east end (within walking distance from Elizabeth Quay). It’s a fantastic spot for wedding photography if you don’t want to stray too far from your ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral or reception at Westin Hotel, and is a fantastic option if you’re looking for an upscale public space with a stunning rooftop garden, manicured lawns, modern eateries and the old fire station. This is the most ideal place to soak up the busy port-side vibe of Perth.

Gnangara Pines

It’s one of Perth’s best-kept secrets north of the river. Right on the outskirts of the Swan Valley lies what the locals call Gnangara Pines. With a bit of mystery, a bit of ‘spooky’ and a bit of magic, you and your beloved can walk freely along the flat trails beneath the towering pine trees, and just escape to the silence in the air. It’s isolated, it’s quiet, and it makes for the most fantastic photographs when the sun is low.

Guildford

The suburb of Guildford was one of the first three towns in the Swan River Colony, along with Perth and Fremantle), established back in 1829. Some of the surviving properties create a rare urban pattern and are in fantastic condition, allowing for storytelling at its finest when it comes to wedding photography.

The historic town of York, about 98km east of Perth, is a wedding photographer’s heaven. The town centre’s architecture really adds character to your bridal photos, and the landscape at spots like Mount Brown Lookout and the canola fields brings a country flavour to your photography shoot. (Website)
